These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Patristics Reader (the “app”) operated by Anthony Walker. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms.
The service
Patristics Reader provides access to patristic and scriptural texts in Greek, Latin, Syriac, Coptic, Armenian, Arabic, Geʿez, Georgian, and Church Slavonic; interlinear reading tools; a patristic lexicon; language-learning content; reading plans; and liturgical resources. Features may change as we improve the app.
Accounts
You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. You may delete your account at any time from the app. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or violate these Terms.
Subscriptions
- Some content and features require a paid subscription.
- Payments are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play; subscription terms, billing, and refunds follow the store’s policies.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Free-tier content remains available without a subscription as described in the app.
Content and copyright
Patristic and scriptural texts included in the app are generally in the public domain or used under applicable licenses. App design, software, curated plans, and original materials are owned by Patristics Reader and may not be copied or redistributed except as the app expressly allows (e.g., personal exports of your notes).
You retain ownership of notes, highlights, and vocabulary you create. You grant us a limited license to store and sync that content so we can provide the service.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or bulk-download the corpus or lexicon outside normal app use.
- Attempt to bypass paywalls, security, or access other users’ data.
- Use the service for unlawful purposes or to harass others in reading groups.
Disclaimer
The app is provided for study and devotion. Translations, glosses, and liturgical calendars are aids — not substitutes for pastoral guidance, seminary instruction, or official church teaching. Texts are presented “as is” for scholarly reading; we do not guarantee theological or historical completeness.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Patristics Reader is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the app. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app or subscription in the twelve months before the claim.
Termination
You may stop using the app at any time. We may discontinue features or the service with reasonable notice where practicable.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
