Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 25, 2026

Patristics Reader (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is operated by Anthony Walker. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using the app, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Account information — email address and display name when you sign up (via email, Google, or Apple).
  • Reading data — bookmarks, highlights, passage notes, vocabulary lists, reading progress, and learner lesson completion stored on your device and, when signed in, synced to our cloud database.
  • Subscription status — purchase and entitlement information from Apple, Google, or RevenueCat (we do not receive your full payment card details).
  • Push tokens — if you enable feast or reading reminders, an Expo push token is stored so we can send notifications you requested.
  • Technical data — basic diagnostics (app version, platform) may appear in service logs; we do not sell personal data or use cross-app advertising trackers.

How we use information

  • Provide core features: reading, lexicon lookup, sync across your devices, and parish reading groups.
  • Process subscriptions and restore purchases.
  • Send optional notifications you enable (reading goals, liturgical feasts).
  • Respond to support requests at support@patristicsreader.com.

Where data is stored

Account and synced library data are hosted by Supabase (PostgreSQL with row-level security). Corpus and lexicon content are read-only public data. Local data remains in an on-device database until you sign in or export it.

Third-party services

  • Supabase — authentication and cloud sync.
  • RevenueCat — subscription management.
  • Google / Apple — optional sign-in and in-app purchases, governed by their policies.
  • Expo — push notification delivery when enabled.

Your choices

  • Export bookmarks, notes, and vocabulary from the app at any time.
  • Delete your account from Profile → Delete account (removes cloud data tied to your user).
  • Use the app without signing in; sync and groups require an account.
  • Disable notifications in system settings or in-app preferences.

Children

The app is intended for readers 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Security

We use industry-standard practices: encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), row-level security on user tables, and secrets kept out of the public app binary. No method of transmission is 100% secure; contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
